Patterns of the Past
The remains of native campsites have been found up and down the Texas coast. This scene, based on evidence from archeological sites along the central coast, creatively reconstructs what life may have been like in a Karankawa Indian encampment. By exploring the scene, you will learn about typical camp activities and how various objects were used. Clicking on each area brings up photos of the actual artifacts that have helped archeologists and others understand how people lived in the prehistoric past.
