Plastered U-shaped channel perpendicular to rear wall of Kit Courson house. View east from rear wall toward the entrance. It is not known whether such channels served a mundane function, such as perhaps being ventilation channels leading to small holes in the outside wall (a possible indication of such was found in one house.) Alternatively, they could be dividers that set aside the central rear bench area as a sacred space, where ritual paraphernalia was kept. |
