Padre Canyon is located on the western edge of Hudspeth County on the southern terminus of the Hueco Mountains. Though it is part of the Chihuahuan Desert today, it would have been a well-watered grassland or savannah at the edge of forested mountains when it was visited by Folsom people over 10,000 years ago.
