This almost complete skeleton of a yearling bison calf was found in the lower part of Bone Bed 3 in Bonfire Shelter, which has been radiocarbon dated to around 2800 years ago (800 BC). Apparently, it was buried beneath other fallen bison carcasses and was never butchered (or sampled for radiocarbon dating). Photograph by Dave Dibble. See Bonfire Shelter to learn more.
